Summary of Where's Molly?
A spinoff of the Cat & Mouse Duet...
“Molly Devereaux has been missing for more than two weeks, and police are still searching for the girl who seemed to vanish out of thin air. The world still wants to know... Where's Molly?”
In my dreams, I never escaped the Oregon woods.
Life after death isn't easy to accept, especially when I still feel like a ghost.
Now, I live deep in the mountains of Montana—the paradigm of beauty. But they are also the home of horrors.
Horrors that I only unleash at night.
When my pigs are allowed to feast.
Review
Molly Devereux, now Marie, lives alone in a house on the edge of the town.
She works for Legion, a shadow organization that helps people get away from abusive lives and punishes those inflicting harm.
Legion sends her dead bodies to dispose of, which she does by chopping them up in chunks and feeding them to her pigs, which are named after seasonings – Chilli, Dill, Garlic, Paprika and Oregano.
For those of you wondering, she is the woman whose journal Adeline found at Francesca’s house, hidden under the floorboard. She was the only girl who managed to run away in the first place.
How did she get there?
Well, her deadbeat rapist father sold her in exchange for drugs.
Legion finds her and that’s how she ends up on Cage’s doorstep, looking to build a whole new life in Alaska, far, far away.
Only to return home a decade later and take up the disposing job.
They cross paths again when Cage has to make a delivery and they star their journey all over again.
I am going to go ahead and say this – I was glad this book wasn’t as dark as Haunting Adeline.
The barn scene was a little too bloody for my taste, but hey, when there’s a belt involved, I really don’t mind.
One of the best and most refreshing things is how open and chill Cage is. He is obsessed with Molly and ain't afraid to show it.
Even better is his mother.
Our beloved Zade and Adeline made tiny appearances and I realized how much I missed those two.
And H. D. Carlton’s entire universe.
