Espionage. Secrets. Action.
All are brought together by an AI-fuelled super weapon called the ‘Heart’.
The movie doesn’t give us anything brand new but makes up for it with the action sequences and the short world tour between Portugal, England, Senegal, and Italy.
Gal Gadot plays Rachel Stone, a tech agent of MI-6 whose team includes Bailey (Paul Ready), Yang (Jing Lusi) & Parker (Jamie Dornan, *fans self*).
They land in the Italian Alps to capture some criminal who hasn’t been seen in years but their plan goes awry, which requires Rachel to step into the field, despite being told not to.
Here, she meets Keya Dhawan (Alia Bhatt), a young hacker who is able to take over the MI-6’s military-grade comm systems.
This is where we find out that Rachel Stone is actually a member of the ‘The Charter’, a super covert spy agency that handles the ‘Heart’. The ‘Heart’ is an AI-fulled weapon that can hack into any device across the world.
And Keya is after it.
After a few chases & action-packed sequences, we find out that Keya is working with Parker to take the ‘Heart’. Both have their sights set on this weapon after being wronged in their lives.
Parker was left to die in a mission he worked on for the ‘The Charter’.
Keya’s parents were unethically experimented upon by a man named Kharche, who she wants to expose.
As the movie picks up pace, Rachel and Keya engage in a battle of wits. Both are portrayed as loners who never had anyone standing beside them or for them. And an unwitting bond begins to form between them.
After finally stealing the ‘Heart’, Parker begins killing the members of ‘The Charter’ one by one, not even caring for the innocent ones. This jolts Keya’s 22-year-old mind which was focused on exposing the enemies and not killing them.
Her realization prompts her to reach out to Rachel in a bid to make things right.
The climax commences and ends with another action-packed sequence, resulting in Parker’s death. Sad, I was starting to like him.
Onto the performance and cast of ‘Heart of Stone’.
I personally feel that the role was not justified for someone as supremely talented as Alia Bhatt. But like always, she delivers. Even this small role.
Gadot and Dornan are equally fabulous.
BUT, but, this movie could have been so much more. In some instances, it just felt like the female version of Mission Impossible.
Not the best, but definitely an entertaining watch.
