The Reaper by RuNyx | Tropes, Summary, Review and Quotes

The Reaper is the second book in the Dark Verse series by the amazingly talented RuNyx. And Just when I thought that I would not like anything beyond the first book this one changed my mind. This book is one of the rare occurrences where the sequel was absolutely amazing.

Let’s dive in.

Summary of The Reaper by RuNyx

The Reaper picks up right where The Predator ended. From the parking lot, Tristan takes Morana back to his apartment where there is a huge discussion about what their next steps are going to be.

In the end it is decided that Morana will travel back with Tristan and Dante to Tenebrae city, to the Outfit’s compound.

Keep in mind that this is enemy territory for Morana.

But because of her newfound trust in Tristan, and Dante too, she makes the journey.

The codes are still out there and while Moran searches for it online, she is helped by an anonymous vigilante.

More and more information starts coming out from decade-old sources as well as about The Syndicate. Who was running it? Who betrayed who? What was the aftermath?

As more and more secrets come to light, Tristan and Morana’s pasts and present become more intertwined.

Review of ‘The Reaper’ by Runyx

Like I said earlier this is one of the rare books where the sequel of a particular couple was not boring or disinteresting. Tristan and Morana’s chemistry is absolutely sizzling. My love for the two of them is never-ending.

Moran’s strength for actually walking into enemy territory is a ballsy move. She is smart, and intelligent and knows how to take care of herself.

There are small moments that show how she was unable to ever trust anyone but slowly and steadily began to trust Tristan. Her handing over the blade to him during the dance is just one of the many examples.

And Tristan, my special baby. My forever favorite. I loved him in book one. Even more in book two. And I don’t think I will ever stop loving him.

Quotes from ‘The Reaper’ by RuNyx

  1. “His demons dance with mine.”

  2. "You,” she whispered to the space between them, “Tristan Caine, are a beautiful, beautiful man. And my heart beats for you.”

  3. “Give them hell,” he whispered to her. She smiled. He stared at her smile for a long, long minute, his magnificent eyes glued to her mouth. And the most beautiful, precious thing happened. His cold, aloof eyes warmed.”

  4. “Brushing her thumb over the line of his jaw, feeling the scruff rasping against it, she vowed, repeating his own words. “Never again. You’ll never be alone again. No matter how bad the nightmare gets, I’m going to be right here.
